Pretty in Pink Event

Last Friday night the women's ministry hosted a dinner entitled:  Pretty in Pink.  The theme was that we as women are Princesses to a Heavenly King.  We had a guest speaker LeAnn Newsome and she spoke about that it is our duty to teach others about Christ.  We each hosted a table and picked different themes, all involving PINK!!  I had a lot of fun with it and mostly raided Addie's room for my decor.  Lisa Dye's mother had placemats at each setting that she made and sewed on there Daughter of the King.  The picture above is one that she made!! Wow, she spent a lot of time on those.

These are ladies at my table.  Above is Maggie Lake and Cara Manns.
More ladies at my table.  Stephanie Glazener is in LIFE group with me and these are two of her friends Robin and Donna.
This was one of my favorite tables:  John Deere pink and green, it was so cute.  She had little verses stuck into little mini hay bales.

My table.  I had tiaras for everyone to wear and a big plastic diamond ring and wand stuck around their napkins.  Everyone laughed at our fake bling bling!

Fake bling bling on the candlesticks.  To all you Hilldale ladies:  notice Barbie's side pony, it def. is a fashion statement :-).

Diagnosis for the month: Poison Oak

I never knew what terrible craziness a little plant would do to my life!!  So three weeks ago Tucker the infamous lab in the blog I wrote about gave me poison oak off of his skin.  It was a rather large patch on the back of my thigh.  It looked terrible and all my friends that I was brave enough to show them my funkiness said, "Go to the doctor."  But to myself I thought, "Who wants to waste that time, find a sitter/sweet Nanny and they can't really do anything anyway right?"  Well, I did what any veterinarian would do and I self medicated myself with Synotic.  Synotic is a strong anti-inflammatory that I like to use on acral lick granulomas.  Well it did give me some relief from the itching, but was short lived.  Well, 2 weeks after breaking out with the funk, my hands started itching like MAD and my whole body.  One night I laid in bed and might have gotten 2 hours of sleep because I couldn't help from scratching and thinking I had some terrible contagious mess from a dog or something that would spread to my girls and we would never get rid of it!!!
Well, I finally go to a walk in clinic b/c my dermatologist can't get me in for days.  They give me a dex injection and a steroid pack and I think I am a new woman right??
Well, as soon as the medrol pack stopped my hands blew up and out with the worst rash you have ever seen!!  Clients in rooms last week would literally stare at my hands and I would have to explain, "Not contagious, think it is a latex allergy from exam gloves."
WELL, I finally get in  to see my dermatologist and guess what??  It is the lovely poison oak all over my hands!!!  She said that it can spread thru your body b/c your immune system responds to the crap in the oil from that STUPID plant!!!!  AND she said that short acting steroids will make it worse and come back much worse.  (sure wish they could have seen me 2 weeks ago)  So now I am on a steroid ointment that is $$$$$.  You got to love and wonder why God created poison oak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I have found out that I am HIGHLY allergic to the stuff and hope never to touch my black lab again, as I will not ever know if it is back on his fur!!!!!!!!!!
Now, aren't you all happy you took the time to read this????

Anointed, Transformed and Redeemed

If you have ever done a Beth Moore bible study then you know you have experienced a blessing.  Several women went to the Beth Moore conference that was in 2007 I believe in Nashville.  Priscilla Shirer was there and she spoke about being anointed, transformed and redeemed.  She read this:
He is the first and the last, the beginning and the end.  He's the keeper of creation and the creator of all.  He's the architect of the universe and the manager of all time.  He always was, always is, always will be unmoved, unchanged, undefeated and never undone.

He was bruised but brought healing, He was pierced but eased pain, He was persecuted but brought freedom, He was dead and brings life.  He is risen to bring power and He reigns to bring peace.

The world can't understand Him, armies can't defeat Him, schools can't explain Him and leaders can't ignore Him.  Herod couldn't kill Him, Nero couldn't crush Him, the new age cannot replace Him and Oprah cannot explain Him away.

You remind yourself, that He is light, He is love, He is longevity and He is the Lord.  He is goodness and kindness and faithfulness and He is God.  He is holy and righteousness and powerful and pure.

His ways are right, His word eternal, His will unchanging and His mind is on us.  He's our Savior, our guide, our peace, our joy, our comfort, our Lord and He rules our lives.

I serve Him because...His bond is love, His yoke is easy, His burden is light and His goal for us is abundant life.  I follow Him because He's the wisdom of the wise, the power of the powerful, the ancient of days, the ruler of rulers, the leader of all leaders.  His goal is a relationship with me.

He'll never leave you, never forsake you, never mislead you, never forget you, never overlook you and never cancel your appointment in his appointment book.

When you fall He'll lift you up.  When you fail, he'll forgive you.  When you're weak, He's strong.  When your lost, He's your way.  When you're afraid, He's your courage.

When you stumble, he will steady you.  When you're hurt He's gonna heal you.  When you're broken, He will mend you.  When you're blind, He will lead you.  When you're hungry, He will feed you.  When you face trials, He's with you.  When I face persecution, He shields me.  When I face problems, He will comfort me.  When I face loss, He will provide for me.  And when we face death, He will carry us all home to meet Him.

He is everything for everybody everywhere every time and in every way.  He is your God.  And that sisters, is who you belong to!!

God's Grace

Wow!!  Wow!!  We joked at work this week b/c a client of ours said that to Dr. Sykes as he handed her her large animal bill.
I say WOW now because of my thoughts today after Bro. Larry Robertson, our beloved pastor at Hilldale Baptist, gave an amazing sermon.
God's grace....can't even fathom it, can you??  We are saved by God's grace and in thinking we can be saved any other way is unfathomable.  When Brother Larry said there is no sin great enough or deep enough for God's grace and gave the example of the prodigal son.  I have read it a million times, but it is so amazing how he loves us with that unconditional, unfathomable love.  For as humans we are not that way.  Who could turn back to someone that did something so stupid and wasteful as the prodigal son???  Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  God does it DAILY!!!  Thank you God for your grace.

Popsicles for supper

This little stinker has been so fussy since Friday night.  I think it is her molar she is cutting and she is a drama queen about it.  She only wants cold things to eat.  So, I gave her a Dole Frozen fruit bar after supper last night and she loved it and had fun making a mess!!  You know I can't wait to scrapbook it on my popsicle paper I bought at Memories in Bloom :)

Ft. Donelson

Last Sunday afternoon we decided to take a trip to Ft. Donelson.  Addie wanted to see the river and the canons.  So we got burgers and shakes from the Dairy Dip and headed there.  Not knowing that they now close the gates after 5pm we couldn't get in.  We parked at the cemetery and ate our meal.  Addie was excited just to see something different.

Summer Livin' in Stewart County

There are so many reasons why I love where we live.  Yes a BIG reason is b/c it took 19 months to build, but beyond that I love the country!!!!  I grew up in Franklin, which was a small city back in the 70's and 80's.  No one even knew where it was.  I would always say we lived south of Nashville.  Well, not anymore as Williamson county is one of the richest counties in the state.  Good for my parents and their land value I guess, but I miss the smallness it once was.  However, almost every Saturday as a child Trey and I would go with my Dad to my grandparents out in the country.  It used to be in Nolensville, but became within the Franklin city limits years ago.  I loved it out there.  The cows, the dirt, and the garden were some great places to be.  Moving to Stewart County brings me back to those fond memories of my childhood.  I love to watch Addie outside, b/c she has wide open spaces to run, jump, laugh, and play.  Claire will be right there beside her when she chooses to learn to walk :).
These are Chris's tomatoes.  We got them planted late May/early June.  They are all still green, but starting to turn red this week.
This is our fancy little garden.  Moving here so late in May we didn't get to do a garden, so Chris got some protein tubs and we grew them in those!!  They are overflowing and so huge!!!

Our Bird feeder outside our back porch.

Addie and I had a girls weekend last weekend b/c Chris was on a canoe trip.  We did something crazy and painted our nails black, like Hannah Montana Addie said.

***The one thing that is driving me crazy since we moved is this great sweet dog of ours, Tucker.  We have had him for 7 years and he "escapes".  He and Bogie lived it up here on the farm for the first 3 weeks we were here.  Well, after that he has decided to roam, roam, roam!!!  He always ends up on the same road up by our house, never at the same house.  They call our number on his collar and I go get him.  We are going round and round right now w/him.  Well, this past week I went to pick him up on his favorite road/ Redtop road and he gets in my car dirty/wet and all and sits in my seat.  I move him to the back of course b/c he is nasty!!!!  Well, 3 days later I discover he has given me poison oak on the back of my leg were he must have gotten it on his fur and rubbed it all in my driver's seat>>>>> you got to love animals!!!
So I of course do not go to the doctor and am self medicating myself!!  Will let you know how that goes.  Does anyone want a black lab???  :)
Addie and Claire enjoying homemade snow cones!!!  Claire's is in a cup, what a great smile you have in this photo sweetie!!  I can't get this kid to smile in a picture to save my life!!!!!!

Change in 1 year!!

Look at the difference in 1 year!!!  I love this baby girl and can't believe that she really is no longer a little baby!!!  Time flies......

Our New Addition

We acquired us a new dog.  Her name is Sallie, name given by her owner Addie.  Sallie was in the parking lot at the Piggly Wiggly in Dover.  Addie, Claire and I had gone there to pick up some food for Father's day back in June.  We got to the car and Addie was petting this dog and I told her to stop b/c we didn't know if it was nice or not.  The bagger at the Pig, said Oh yea she is great she has been hanging out here for over a week.  Well I looked at her and knew I couldn't let her stay there in this heat so I loaded her up, only to probably take her to Chris's clinic on Monday.  Well we did take her to the clinic, but only to have her spayed and checked out, as she was now a Lewis!!!  Bogie and Tucker love her and it is like we have had her all along.

Butterflies and Bubbles

Aunt Sherri and Uncle Mike and Hayden spoiled Addie for her 4th birthday.  She got LOTS of packages in the mail and she loved them so much for days she kept saying, "Mom, how did Aunt Sherri know I like all these things?"  Well one of the gifts was a butterfly garden.  We mailed in a form for the larvae to be shipped to us and then after so many days we put them in Addie's net butterfly garden.  After they all hatched into butterflies I showed Addie and she headed towards the front door.  I said Addie what are you doing??  She said, "I want them to be free."  I explained to her that if we did let them go she wouldn't get them back.  Her wise little 4 yr old response was, "I know mom, I want them to go free, they should be free."  As tears filled my eyes, I looked at Chris and he had the biggest grin on his face.  We both told her how proud we were that she wanted to release them.

Here are a few tub time photos of the girls!!  Claire likes to chew on the barbies feet.
